Sigol Jangteo in Mandeok: cheap, good ribs over briquettes

This meat place is near my home. I had long wondered about it but do not have many friends in the neighborhood. At about 7:15 on a Wednesday evening, I finally called a friend over.

The table is unusual. The whole top is a wire grate, and a briquette fire comes up through the middle. The prices are very low. Restaurants around Mandeok generally seem cheap to me.

We ordered marinated ribs and mushrooms, not knowing mushrooms come with the meat, so we ended up with a pile of them. Scallops were on the menu too, so we added those.

The scallops were cheap and tasty too, but I liked the meat better.

I used to go out to Seomyeon, Suyeong and Gwangalli to eat, but as I get older I find there are plenty of good places in my own neighborhood.
