# Singsing Domae Hoetjip, Dongnae: good mullet and gizzard shad

A friend had messaged me several times about wanting gizzard shad. So we met at about 6 on a Thursday evening at Singsing Domae Hoetjip, right in front of Dongnae Station. It is the place I pick on days when I want sashimi without spending much. [In July I had rock bream here](/en/posts/dongnae-singsing-domae-hoetjip-20260711/).

I thought gizzard shad alone would get tiring fast, so I chose the set that comes with mixed sashimi. It is open from 4 p.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday, and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Grilled fish and a kimchi pancake came out first. I wondered if the grilled fish was a small flounder, but I am not sure.

I believe the fish were olive flounder, mullet, starry flounder, and gizzard shad. The mullet and the shad were good. I did not care for the chew of the starry flounder. Even so, the mullet and the shad made up for it.
